DESCRIPTION:The Maryland State Banjo\, Fiddle & Mandolin Championships in 2018 will be held October 12th & 13th. The Banjo and Mandolin are Friday evening and the Fiddle is Saturday evening. The best sounds of the Appalachian Mountains are showcased by musicians of all ages as the compete for cash prizes\, trophies and the state title! Featuring our emcee Steve Smith from the Steve Smith Band. Performances by our judges and Steve Smith! The event is presented by The Town of Oakland and the Greater Oakland Business Association. It is sponsored by Rob Michael\, CLU\, A State Farm agent and the Garrett County and Maryland State Arts Council. Competition begins at 7pm and doors open at 6pm. We will take contestant registrations right up until the start of the event. Trophies and CASH prizes as high as $300 for State Champion winners! For more information call 301-334-2691. Advanced tickets can be purchased at Oakland City Hall\, Deep Creek Pharmacy and Gregg's Pharmacy. Ticekts are sold at the door.
